Chiropractors are trained to cater their adjustments and treatments appropriately for all age levels. It is completely safe for children to be adjusted by a licensed chiropractor. Many report seeing improvements in breastfeeding, bed-wetting, attitude, sleep patterns, and reduction of ear problems such as recurring infections after undergoing chiropractic care. Some chiropractors, like Dr. Abby, choose to further their education specifically in the area of pediatrics, in order to better serve that population. Dr. Abby continues to develop her pediatric skills through courses offered by the ICPA. When adjusting children, Dr. Abby takes into account the open growth centers that are present at different stages of development, and uses very light force techniques that are appropriate for each child. Dr. Abby will likely also test a variety of primitive reflexes during a pediatric initial exam, in order to get a broader picture of your child’s development. If you have further questions, please bring them up during the initial exam, or schedule a consult to chat with Dr. Abby!

Pregnancy is such a special time, one filled with rapid changes and a broad spectrum of emotions. During pregnancy, many women may experience discomfort in a variety of ways. To accommodate a rapidly developing baby, the mother’s body will change its postural patterns to compensate as best it can. Some common results of this include low back pain, sciatica, upper back pain, and pain in the glutes or legs. Later in pregnancy, women may also experience round ligament pain (often described as a stabbing pain on one or both sides of the lower belly). Dr. Abby utilizes Webster technique, an adjusting technique developed for pregnant women, to analyze and correct the pelvic boney, ligamentous, and muscular structures for optimal balance. When the pelvic structures are balanced, this also gives baby more room to move freely, which can allow them to get into better birthing position. This technique has been shown to improve quality of life throughout pregnancy, as well as birth outcomes for both mom and baby.
