FAQs

Is chiropractic safe for children?

Absolutely! An adjustment on an infant or child likely looks *much* different than what you imagine. Dr. Abby uses very gentle techniques that are suited to the rapidly gowing bodies of children. Often, children enjoy getting adjusted because it is relaxing and fun! Additionally, parents regularly cite improvements in their children’s sleep pattern, breastfeeding, and attitude (Dr. Abby is definitely happier when she sleeps well!).

Why should children get adjusted?

Many parents understand that some of the issues they might have as adults are connected to events that occurred during childhood. Over time, if not corrected, problematic movement patterns (whether from birth trauma, injuries, or the usual bumps and falls as they grow) create more and more stress on the body. This can ultimately result in pain, discomfort, or other symptoms. Once we reach adulthood, these ingrained issues can take much longer to resolve. Children should get checked and adjusted when necessary to keep ahead of these problems before they take hold!

Why should I get adjusted while pregnant?

As the body grows during pregnancy, the way it moves and functions changes as well. Often, due to lifestyle factors and pre-existing movement patterns, these changes can create or worsen imbalances of the pelvis and other body structures. This can result in discomfort or pain for mom during pregnancy and birth. Additionally, pelvic imbalances can restrict the space baby has get into optimal birthing position. Chiropractic has been shown to increase comfort during pregnancy and aid in positive birthing outcomes for mom and baby.
